Once upon a time…   centuries ago people found a way for magic to be harnessed. The Old ones as they were called would find a to harness and use practice with it in order to use it to their advantage.  And So not long after the discovery of magic, A Small coven would be formed.  This small cover would become the first coven, which was led by the Supreme witch, Klaudia! The Supreme had the ability to harness all the elements and would use her power however she saw fit.   She had complete authority over those she named Witches. Beneath her iron rule, the Supreme taught others how to harness the elements, How to cast spells, and how to use their magic to better themselves. The Supreme ruled for decades and only in death did her gifts and powers pass on to another.  Her closest blood relative,  who happened to be her daughter. And So began the witches. And this was how it would remain for centuries to come.

 

   In the year 1822, a Supreme witch by the name of Alysane Anne Deveraux sought a place to take her coven to protect them and keep them safe and in secret.   It was this time that Alysane and her most powerful disciples,  Marie Laveau ( renowned voodoo queen. )  Freya Gerard ( Known as the Water Priestess ) David O'Connell ( Sorcerer and Conjurer ), and Christopher Castel ( Alysane's lover and most trusted.)  Founded the small town not far out of New Orleans, Lafayette.  The town slowly gained traction and built up a steady population for its quaint size.   Together the founders managed to keep the coven a secret, operating underground for quite some time.

  In the year of 1843, Alysane Anne Deveraux died in her bed after obtaining a fatal wound from a jealous traitor in her midst. ( Some even rumored it was her lover, Chris Castel who had delivered the fatal blow and this rumor would forever shame the Castel line as traitors. )   This was the start of change for the Coven.  For you see, she had not one child but two.. twins who were so close one might have thought they were one person split in two, and it would seem as though the magic of the supreme agreed as well. The magic went into both of them, so now instead of One Woman being the Supreme, there were two!  Many might have thought this was good, however, it was truly far from it.  

 

 In the year 1868, the rivalry and fight for the top witch came to a head, Which was easily Manipulated by Christopher Castel. He seduced Lucielle and convinced her to plan a coup against her Camille, which lead to the coven taking sides and an explosive battle.  Lucielle lost, how ever She was still sister and twin to Camielle, and thusly not someone she was willing to kill was exiled to the bayou where she with a small sect of those loyal to her would start what would in present times be dubbed the south side of Lafayette.

 

The twins would remain at war for years, which would lead to their opposing covens forming hatred for one another. Those on the Southside hated the Northside, they were jealous and petty. They had nothing or had to work their souls into the grave to gain what little they did have. Whereas the North siders of Lafayette were wealthy, egotistical, and entitled. They seemed to have everything that wanted or could ever want. Even the less wealthy in the Northside, were better than those past the tunnel to the south side! 

 

The Northside was thriving! It had nice stores, big houses, and a better school for the kids. It was clear they were well provided for by the founding families and powerful North Side Coven witches.  

 

The Southside was not as lucky, Those that resided in the Southside were known as the Bayou rats, or Bayou scum. Due to Lucille being cast out and stripped of her riches obtained from her mother, she, and those loyal to her, had to build up their part of the lands. It was run down, dingy, urban and grungy.  Some would argue that the only reason they stayed on the south side was to bide their time until war would strike again.

    Due to their extreme hatred for one another, the twins needed more than just witches to protect themselves.  However, both being so similar in thinking and personalities they both had the same idea. And thusly both created new races by way of the curse! These races were designed as protectors of their perspective sides.  Lucille being bitter, dark, and cruel, her curse would create creatures that reflected that darkness.  Creatures that were seemingly devoid of light,  Undead yet alive. These beings became the first Strigoi.  Camille created a curse with the blood of a wolf. She worked into the spell of fealty and warmth and trust. And then she gave this curse to her willing and most trusted friend. She called it the curse of Garouism.   The Garou is loyal and faithful to Camille and the Undead strigoi controlled by Lucille.  The two races became just two more of the races hidden and lurking in the shadows within Lafayette. 

 

Present Day!

 

 May 31 2023 The Mayoress, Celeste Deveraux's car was ambushed and forced to wreck. Claiming the life of her son Toban Deveraux, the Youngest child to the main  Deveraux family.  Celeste however was not found for many days after leaving the town in an uproar. When the Supreme was found she was found murdered and violently so.  

  Celeste Deveraux Mother of Four, The NorthSide Supreme Is now dead. Murdered by a member of the brotherhood, or so many assumed.  This is the First time in many decades a supreme has left her thrown Empty and such has left quite a stir in the town of Lafayette.  The Former Supreme left two seats open. One to be claimed by her Eldest Daughter, and the second that of mayoress! Many things are now uncertain. The new Supreme many believe is not ready for her new gifts.. No one in the town was prepared for a vacancy in politics.. However, maybe someone on the Southside Is!

   Both the Southside and the Northside have built up steady populations.  However, the divide still remains.  Those South of the Bayou hates those in the Northside despite most being human now.  The Southside has gangs and all the degenerates in the town. This is where the shady stuff happens. But those that live there or were raised there have come to have some sort of Southside Pride. They are the tougher grittier residents of Lafayette.  The Northside still houses the rich and the snobby.  Where things come easy and entitlement is a way of life.  Two sides of a very ancient coin.

  The higher-ranked Witches of the Northside Coven hold positions of power, Formerly Run by Celeste Deveraux. Those with the founding family names run the town. The Mayor, the sheriff, and The most wealthy are claimed by the founders. The Coven meets in secret in a location below the town hall.  Dubbed the temple.  Only the Coven and the Garou Alpha know this secret location. 

  The Southside coven is led by Dominic Castel, he runs the coven from a tunnel that leads to a cave below the town in which the entrance is a secret. Rumored to be somewhere near the Bayou. The Coven on the Southside is rumored to be larger than the Northside and they are darker.  Many bad and dark things happen on the south side with the coven's knowledge.  Many murders go unsolved due to a lack of honest resources as well as a lack of caring. Rape and kidnappings are also a problem. Rivals gangs tag and abuse the residential areas of the south side. The Coven leaders are growing restless and darker by the day.

With the Death of One Supreme and a new young one Named. The future of Lafayette is up in the air. A future of war and political battles may ensue. Darkness is descending as the Death of Celeste is only speculated, but one must ask If the brotherhood did not slay her, then who did?
